Job summary

The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for an Aquatics Coordinator at the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC). This is a full-time, full-year (2080 hours), non-exempt position. The pay range for this position is $23.50 to $27.00/hr; new hires typically start at the beginning of the range.

The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday 10:00am – 7:00pm with some flexibility of times. Occasional weekends. The schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.

Qualifications

• One year full-time or part-time equivalent experience in aquatics facility management and programming.
• One year full-time or part-time supervisory experience in aquatics/pool facility.
• Post-offer pre-employment physical required.
• Post-offer swim test to include American Red Cross Lifeguarding prerequisites.
• Possession of or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor and First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Bridge.
• Possession of or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire current base level certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22).
• Possession of or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire a current CPO/AFO Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of lifeguards and other aquatics program staff.
• Train staff; maintain documentation; lifeguard monthly in-service curriculum.
• Develop safety program including CPR, AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding and swim lessons.
• Develop aquatic programming including events and collaborations with campus departments.
• Collaborate with AS Marketing and AS Operational Programing Services to market aquatics programs.
• Maintain training and procedural manuals for lifeguards and safety instructors.
• Assist in representing WREC staff and Associated Students in contacts with campus, public, and contractors.
• Manage certifications database of supervised employees.
• Serve as Red Cross liaison for the WREC.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance of pool and equipment; manage pool chemistry and cleaning.
• Assess conditions and coordinate repairs/planning with AS Facilities.
• Serve on AS and campus committees; perform other duties as assigned.
