OWA is seeking an Aquatics Operations Manager in Foley, AL to lead the Aquatics team, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and maintaining staffing levels for the department.

This role develops and enforces SOPs, conducts orientation and Lifeguard training, keeps certifications current, participates in the MOD program, and collaborates on budgets and operating plans.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop large teams.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem‑solving skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a high‑volume aquatics facility/water park.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible leadership of Team Members including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and staffing.
  • Develop and manage implementation of department policies and procedures with SOPs and training materials.
  • Conduct department orientation, attraction/Lifeguard training, and in‑service training for staff.
  • Explain and assign responsibilities for successful department operations.
  • Recruit, select, train, and develop department Leads and Supervisors.
  • Ensure all certifications are current for Lifeguards and Attendants.
  • Participate in Manager-On-Duty (MOD) program for Tropic Falls.
  • Develop plans supporting organizational objectives and assist with budgeting and planning.
  • Achieve business goals set by General Manager and Property Manager.
  • Monitor water park capacity and environmental conditions; conduct safety inspections.

Job description

  • Responsible leadership of Team Members which includes recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for the department
  • Develop and manage the implementation of department policies and procedures, including formal Standard Operating Procedures along with accompanying training policies, materials, and documentation
  • Conduct department orientation classes, attraction training, Lifeguard training, and in-service training for Aquatics staff
  • Clearly describe and assign responsibility and authority for successful department operations
  • Recruit, select, train, and develop department Leads and Supervisors
  • Ensure all certifications are current for all Lifeguards and Attendants
  • Participate in the Manager-On-Duty (MOD) program for Tropic Falls
  • Develop detailed, realistic, and comprehensive plans that support organizational objectives
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and departmental planning
  • Achieve business goals and objectives set forth by the General Manager and Property Manager
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets for the Aquatics Department
  • Support special events, group sales, and VIP experiences
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers, using tact and diplomacy for de‑escalation, gathering accurate information, and resolving conflicts that arise with the team or guests
  • Perform supervisory tasks, including scheduling, training, resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, corrective actions, and managing quality control
  • Conduct daily and frequent site inspections to ensure the highest possible standards of safety, courtesy, cleanliness, and efficiency are met
  • Assist in monitoring and managing water park capacity
  • Assist in monitoring environmental conditions of the indoor water park structure and at the outdoor water park attractions
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop large teams
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem‑solving skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a high‑volume, public facing, aquatics facility/water park
  • Projects a positive, professional, image to team and guests
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team members to work together and exceed expectations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screen
  • Able to work in sunny, hot, humid, cold, and rainy conditions
  • Willing and able to work odd or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communicator with ability to motivate a team, deliver quality results, and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Current, valid driver’s license
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
Physical Requirements:
  • Swim 200 yards in 5 ft of water and retrieve a 10 lb brick from bottom of pool
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a humid, warm environment, and be immersed in water for extended periods of time
  • Position sometimes requires the ability to lift, push, and pull at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
