Job description

The Aquatic Manager reports to the Aquatics Supervisor or Vice President of Operations and is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning, safety, and quality of service at the assigned property. This role involves supervising the operations of the pools, including planning, coordinating, scheduling, supporting, and evaluating various programs related to the aquatics area within the facility. The Supervisor is expected to work an average of 20-25 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Aquatics Supervisor oversees the smooth operation of pool facilities under the general supervision of the Area Manager. Responsibilities include enforcing policies and procedures, managing and training personnel, and overseeing all swimming pool operations such as first aid, rotations, staff scheduling, public relations, janitorial duties, and limited pool maintenance, including cleaning. Excellent organizational, communication, and public relations skills are necessary. The Supervisor works weekdays, weekends, and holidays, fostering a positive, engaging, and supportive work environment for employees, clients, and users of the aquatic facility. This position directly supervises the Assistant Aquatic Manager/Supervisors, Head Guard/Swim Lesson Supervisor, Lifeguards/Swim Instructors, and other CELTS staff such as Pool operations, cashiers, aides, etc. The Aquatic Supervisor is the day-to-day contact for all official CELTS programs, services, and rentals within the facility, requiring proficiency with CELTS internal operating systems for rentals, registrations, and cash register systems.

CELTS Goal:

To instill a lifelong relationship with water by providing high-quality, developmentally sound aquatic programs and services in a fun and safe environment, emphasizing outstanding customer service.

OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure consistent high-quality pool operations, including chemical checks, equipment reviews, safety checks, and product monitoring/ordering.
  • Report and resolve mechanical needs promptly.
  • Maintain all aquatic operations within national, local, and CELTS required ranges.
  • Properly track and store chemicals, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Manage financial components within CELTS systems.
  • Maintain active communication with company systems (Google Workspace, Paycor, Rescue Ready Audits, Rockstar, etc.).
  • Represent programs, classes, and services accurately across all platforms (program guides, flyers, website, print, social media).
  • Ensure employees do not exceed 40 hours per week and record hours accurately in the Time Tracker System.
  • Complete weekly timecard approvals by 10 AM each Monday.
SAFETY AND SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prioritize safety to support the company's mission to "Prevent Death By stopping accidental drowning."
  • Support safety training, audits, reports, and emergency plan reviews.
  • Ensure safety equipment, signage, rescue, and first aid supplies are stocked, functional, and meet safety standards.
  • Create and implement safety training programs, including routine in-services and safety reviews, with documentation.
  • Maintain active communication with facility clients to foster engagement and partnerships.
  • Secure the facility at closing by checking all doors and gates.
TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure staff are trained and aware of safety and service objectives, setting a positive example.
  • Clarify scheduling processes and ensure proper staffing daily.
  • Create a positive, engaging work environment with clear communication and policies.
  • Ensure organizational clarity regarding staff roles and responsibilities.
  • Train front-line staff to promote upcoming events effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive knowledge in planning, organizing, and implementing aquatics programs.
  • Knowledge of pool filters, mechanical systems, and water chemistry.
  • Excellent public relations skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to evaluate personnel.
  • Proficiency in swimming (demonstrated ability).
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 500 hours of Lifeguarding experience, including 100 hours in a supervisory role or holding advanced aquatics instructor certifications.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:
  • Current Lifeguard with CPR/AED Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification, or obtain within 30 days of hire/promotion and maintain current status.
  • CELTS Pool Management Site Supervisor Certification (to be completed within 30 days).
  • CELTS Aquatic Management Series (4 courses).
