TI Day Camp Aquatics Director - Seasonal

About the Position

The New York Athletic Club, a premier global club, is seeking a Day Camp Aquatics Director at Travers Island in Pelham, NY. The selected candidate will be part of the Winged Foot Day Camp team, overseeing the aquatics staff and daily operations.

The Winged Foot Day Camp offers children of members a comprehensive camp experience, utilizing Travers Island's world-class facilities, with activities including sports, arts, theme days, and field trips.

Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee swimming activities at Travers Island pool.
• Supervise staff and campers involved in swim activities.
• Manage daily operations of aquatics staff, including lifeguards and instructors.
• Maintain and oversee the aquatics facility.
• Respond to emergencies at the bathing facility.
• Implement safety protocols, including the buddy system.
• Foster positive relationships with members, guests, and staff.
• Ensure adherence to pool safety procedures.
• Attend pre-camp training in May and June 2025.

Qualifications

• Minimum one season as Camp Aquatics Director at a NYS camp, or two seasons as a lifeguard at a pool/beach, or 18 weeks of lifeguarding experience.
• At least 21 years old.
• Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.
• Pass NYS and national background checks.
• Reliable transportation to Travers Island.
• Availability for 40 hours/week during June-August 2025.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Professional conduct and openness to feedback.
• Ability to multitask efficiently.
