Job summary

HealthFitness, a Trustmark company, is seeking an Aquatics Manager for our premier client site in Racine, Wisconsin. This role leads all operational, programming, and staff functions for a state-of-the-art aquatics facility, including safety, scheduling, and community programming.

You will recruit, train, and supervise staff; manage daily operations, rentals, and events; develop programming and marketing materials; and produce data-driven reports to measure outcomes aligned with goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
• 2+ years aquatic experience including supervisory experience.
• Lifeguard with First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross (if not current will be required within 30 days).
• Ability to lead, manage and operate a community, recreation, or fitness center.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic onboarding/timecard systems.
• Available to work some evenings and weekends.

About the Facility: Our state-of-the-art aquatics facility boasts a 6,700 sq-ft main pool featuring a diving board, five 25-yard lap lanes, a water slide, and a 60-foot obstacle course. Additionally, we offer a children’s wading pool with a charming duck slide and an outdoor patio perfect for the summer months.

Job Description Summary
In this position, you will be responsible for the overall aquatics program, special events, and Red Cross instructor services. Your responsibilities include recruiting, training, and scheduling staff; managing daily operations of the facilities and responding to patron needs; assisting during facility operations, rentals, and special events; assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of aquatics programming; distribution of program marketing materials; collection of program and event data; and completion of regular reports.

Key Accountabilities

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in aquatics in accordance with HealthFitness policies, procedures and applicable laws including recruiting, onboarding, training, evaluating, developing, and succession planning. Determines and assigns work assignments to ensure staff remains challenged and productivity is maximized. Promotes and encourages career growth.
• Ensures staff is properly trained and holds HealthFitness approved certifications needed for safe and effective program delivery. Provides continuous feedback and coaching to ensure quality of all program and service delivery. Conducts annual performance appraisals and may initiate formal corrective action as needed.
• Leads regular staff meetings to ensure associates are informed about HealthFitness as well as onsite events, initiatives, and status. Attends Leadership meetings.
• Submits payroll records and billing worksheets accurately and according to policy.
• Assists General Manager in developing and implementing the yearly strategic business plan to identify deliverables, service offerings and initiatives, targeted outcomes, and marketing strategy.
• Assists General Manager in preparing and managing operating budget. Ensures expenditures are made in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Tracks participant and program data for measurement of goal achievement, outcomes, and results. Assists General Manager in creating outcomes focused reports based on business plan goals and objectives.
• May coordinate marketing and communications to maximize membership, utilization, and engagement. Supports and participates in community events, outreach, networking, and onsite special events.
• Maintains accurate records and ensures confidentiality of data collected during health assessment and health promotion/membership activities in accordance with HealthFitness requirements, including if applicable file transfer, processes, collaborating with related suppliers and/or storage.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Exercise Science, Sports Management, Kinesiology, or related discipline OR the equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
• 2+ years aquatic experience including previous supervisory experience.
• Lifeguard with First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross (if not current will be required within 30 days).
• Ability to lead, manage and operate a community, recreation, or fitness center.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office including at minimum Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to navigate electronic onboarding and timecard systems required.
• Availability to work some evenings and weekends.

Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 annually. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
