Job summary

The City of Alvin seeks an experienced Aquatics Manager to coordinate and supervise all aquatic programs, activities and events. You will hire, train and oversee staff and volunteers in the aquatics division and manage contracts with individuals and organizations.

Position requires CPR/First Aid, Lifeguard, LGI/WSI, WSI/WSIT or related certifications, and supervisory experience. Starting salary is $49,167 and the role is full-time, on-site within the Recreation Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED plus 2 years of recreation and community services with admin/supervisory experience.
• Experience in aquatic facility management, contracts and marketing information is required.
• Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Current Rec Cross LGI certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• WSI certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• WSIT or ability to obtain within one year.
• CPO or AFO or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervise and administer all aquatic programs, activities, and events for the Alvin Community.
• Provide customer service and recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers in the aquatics division.
• Hire, supervise and manage full- and part-time staff, volunteers and contracts with individuals/organizations.
• Handle emergency duties as needed in public service situations.
• Report to the Recreation Superintendent and work with the Aquatics staff to maintain operations.
• Oversee seasonal and part-time staff and instructors.

Job Announcement

Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to coordinate, supervise and administer all aquatic programs, activities, and special events for the Alvin Community. Provides customer service, hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in the aquatics division. This position may include service or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of the job during emergency situations for the benefit of the public. The manager is under the direct supervision of the Recreation Superintendent. The Aquatics Manager directly supervises full and part-time staff, volunteers and manages contracts with individuals and organizations. This includes seasonal and part-time aquatic staff and instructors.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED plus 2 years of increasingly responsible recreation and community services experience including 1 year of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Experience in Aquatic facility management, contracts and marketing information is required.
• Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Current Rec Cross LGI certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• LGIT desirable
• Current Red Cross WSI certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• WSIT or ability to obtain within one year

Salary
