Ymca Of Central Maryland, Inc. is seeking a Head Lifeguard to lead daily aquatic operations, supervise lifeguards and swim instructors, and ensure safety and program standards are met.

The role combines staff leadership with hands-on lifeguarding or swim instruction as needed. The ideal candidate will hold current lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications, plus the ability to obtain Oxygen Administration and Lifeguard Instructor certifications within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Current Oxygen Administration certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Current Lifeguard Instructor certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Current Pool Operator certification.
• Ability to pass the Y in Central Maryland swim test.
• Two years YMCA/aquatics or related program experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide daily leadership and support to lifeguards and swim instructors.
• Assist with scheduling, coverage, coaching, and staff evaluations.
• Monitor pool operations and ensure compliance with Y safety standards and procedures.
• Respond to emergencies, conflicts, and unusual situations.
• Lead or support in-service training, skill evaluations, and associate development.
• Maintain accurate rosters, enrollment information, incident reports, and other records.
• Communicate professionally with members, participants, parents, and associates.
• Coordinate pool space, equipment, and resources for lessons, programs, and events.
• Monitor program quality and ensure swim programs follow standards.
• Promote aquatic programs and support member participation and retention.
• Participate in organizational initiatives, including annual support campaign.
• Perform Lifeguard or Swim Instructor duties when needed.
• Model the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
