Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure a safe, welcoming aquatic environment for members and guests. You will monitor the pool, enforce rules, respond to emergencies, and support daily operations of the aquatic area.

Qualifications include current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications, plus Oxygen Administration or ability to obtain within 30 days. Flexible shifts (days/evenings/weekends) are available.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Oxygen Administration certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Must pass Y in Central Maryland swim test.
• Maintain required certifications and demonstrate rescue skills.
• Flexible availability including days, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor swimmers and maintain surveillance of the pool area.
• Enforce pool rules and Y safety requirements.
• Respond quickly to water-related emergencies.
• Conduct pool-chemical checks and basic adjustments as needed.
• Keep pool deck clean, organized, and safe.
• Inspect aquatic equipment and report safety concerns.
• Set up and store equipment for lessons, programs, and events.
• Engage positively with members and participants; support aquatic programs.
