Job summary

Virginia Recreation and Park Society is seeking an Aquatic Instructor to provide a safe swimming environment, enforce rules, and deliver ARC Water Safety Programs across multiple park sites. The role supports community recreation and requires flexibility for a 7-day operation with early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Candidates must hold ARC WSI (or Lifeguard Instructor) certification, be 16+, and complete a departmental skills test.

Qualifications

• Must be at least sixteen (16) years old.
• Requires ARC Water Safety Instructor certification to instruct preschool, adult, and ARC aquatic programs.
• Or must possess ARC Lifeguard Instructor certification to teach ARC Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED/O2.
• Must obtain ARC First Aid/CPR/AED within 30 days of employment.
• Must satisfactorily complete departmental skills test prior to employment.
• Must work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays and be available for overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe swimming environment.
• Provide customer service and enforce rules.
• Administer CPR as required.
• Instruct all levels of ARC Water Safety Programs per ARC and department standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor based on workloads.
