Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead all aquatic operations and programs, ensuring a safe, high‑quality experience for members.

You will coach and develop a high‑performing team, manage budgeting and payroll, oversee scheduling and safety compliance, and grow programming through community partnerships and events in Austin, Texas.

This role emphasizes data‑driven improvements, staff development, and a commitment to the YMCA mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, Sports Management, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of leadership experience in aquatics, recreation, youth development, or related field, including supervising and developing teams.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing leaders while fostering accountability, belonging and continuous improvement.
• Experience overseeing program operations, scheduling, safety compliance, and risk management practices.
• Knowledge of budgeting, payroll administration, and financial management principles, with ability to monitor expenses and support department goals.
• Experience evaluating program effectiveness and using data to improve participant experiences and outcomes.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and related software.
