Job summary

The City of Calistoga seeks a supervisory recreation leader to plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate diverse programs, facilities, and services, including youth and adult sports, camps, aquatics, and special events, while overseeing budgets and contracts.

Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required; you will supervise part-time and contract staff, coordinate rentals, and ensure safety, quality, and customer service, reporting to the Recreation Manager.

Qualifications

• Four years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation, aquatics, community services, parks, youth and community programs, hospitality, or a related field.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and evaluate recreation programs, facilities, operations, and assigned staff.
• Oversee the daily operation of the aquatic facility, staffing, scheduling, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and monitor program budgets and cost recovery analyses.
• Administer contracts for recreation programs and coordinate instructors and service providers.
• Assist with Special Event Permit process and coordinate outreach and communication.
• Coordinate scheduling and use of recreation facilities and athletic fields for programs and rentals.
• Recruit, hire, coach, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
