Job summary

Romulus Athletic Center is seeking an Aquatics Director to oversee daily operations of the center’s pools, programs, and events in Romulus, MI. The role focuses on safety, staffing, budgeting, and program development to serve the community.

You will manage lifeguards, coordinate lessons and meets, and partner with departments to promote offerings while ensuring regulatory compliance and a safe aquatic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management or related field.
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Current CPR/First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and Lifeguard Instructor or Water Safety Instructor preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day operations of the aquatics center, including pools, classes and events.
• Develop and implement emergency action plans and safety drills.
• Recruit, train, supervise and schedule staff and volunteers.
• Work with Marketing to promote swim lessons, teams and events.
• Develop and manage annual department budget and monitor revenue/expenses.
• Maintain pool chemical inventories and safety SDS binders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational policies.
