Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior environmental project manager in the United States to lead aquatic resource management and regulatory compliance initiatives. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, prepare regulatory documents, and communicate complex information to clients and agencies.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in environmental consulting or related fields, strong technical writing, and the ability to travel for meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, ecology, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience.
• Experience preparing/managing regulatory documents and SOPs.
• Experience coordinating projects: scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality.
• Field sampling equipment knowledge.
• Ability to operate and trailer watercraft.
• Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of California environmental/water regulations.
• Willingness to travel for meetings; overnight stays.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Preferred: Master’s/PhD; Pest Control Adviser and Stormwater credentials.
• Preferred: experience with NPDES aquatic pesticide permits and related documents.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage projects involving aquatic resource management, water quality, invasive species, environmental compliance, and permitting
• Prepare, coordinate, and quality-control regulatory documents, permit applications, and monitoring plans
• Review permit conditions and translate them into project tasks, schedules, monitoring requirements, and deliverables
• Coordinate document reviews, revise drafts, and submit documents to clients and regulatory agencies
• Maintain organized, traceable project records and track regulatory changes
• Manage projects from authorization through closeout, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality, and deliverables
• Prepare scopes of work, fee estimates, schedules, work plans, and task assignments
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, laboratories, vendors, and subcontractors
• Lead project meetings, track action items, and provide progress reporting
• Support invoice review, change management, contract compliance, and work documentation
• Serve as day-to-day client contact and build relationships with clients and agencies
• Communicate complex technical and regulatory information in written, oral, and graphical formats
• Support proposal production and business development activities
• Provide technical support for aquatic resource management and environmental compliance programs
• Coordinate field and laboratory activities
• Review data summaries and reports for QA/QC
• Mentor junior staff in technical writing, document organization, and client service
