Job summary

YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is seeking a Program Coordinator I to assist in hiring, plan aquatic programs, and oversee operations in line with YMCA goals and policies. You will help supervise programs, improve enrollment and retention, and foster a welcoming, community-oriented atmosphere for members.

The role requires at least 18 years old, a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least two years of aquatic experience, plus the ability to pass YMCA aquatic tests.

Qualifications

• Exemplary human motivational and relationship skills and supervisory skills needed.
• Ability to interpret program objectives to members, participants and volunteers, and communicate within and between communities and organizations.
• Must be capable of establishing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, parents, participants, and the public.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff.
• Completion of all position-specific YMCA training within established deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in hiring, program planning and overseeing aquatic programs in accordance with YMCA goals and policies.
• Supervise aquatic programs to maintain and improve quality, enrollment and retention of participants; stay aware of current trends in the field.
• Help build a welcoming, small community atmosphere among members while supporting staff and volunteers.
