Job summary

YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is seeking a part-time Aquatics Coach to lead practice sessions, coordinate line-ups, and attend swim meets. You will develop participant potential, ensure safety procedures, and collaborate with staff to deliver high-quality aquatic programs.

Responsibilities include preparing practice plans, setting up equipment, maintaining records, and participating in trainings. Candidates should have 1–2 years of competitive swim team experience and be at least 18 years old.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• 1–2 years of competitive swim team experience in an aquatic environment.
• Must demonstrate organization-required aquatic skills and swim tests.
• Completion of YMCA training within deadlines.
• Maintain current certifications and swimming skills.
• Ability to perform all essential duties as described.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and challenging program by following safety guidelines (OSHA, AHA, YMCA).
• Lead and develop morning practice schedules and coordinate line-ups.
• Attend all swim meets and assist with volunteer base for meets.
• Follow emergency procedures and site-specific guidelines.
• Prepare practice plans and set up equipment before practice; put away after.
• Affirm professional appearance and cooperative site conduct; manage space and voice level.
• Complete paperwork and maintain records (accidents, coaching notes).
• Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings; perform other duties as needed.
