Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis at the Benjamin Harrison YMCA in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Associate Director of Aquatics to oversee the development and implementation of aquatic programs. You will work with staff, members, and program participants on the front line (50%) and in administration (50%), handling daily operations and program promotion.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED with leadership experience in aquatics; CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years in a leadership role in aquatics.
• Current CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard certifications required.
• Knowledge of pool chemical handling per YMCA/OSHA guidelines; CPO training preferred.
• Ability to lead and supervise staff; experience teaching swim lessons is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and implementation of the Center’s aquatic programs.
• Manage day-to-day department operations and program promotion/evaluation.
• Coordinate staff scheduling, training, and supervision; monitor safety and adherence to standards.
• Ensure financial operations align with Center goals and policies.
