Job summary

Texas Department of Family & Protective Services seeks an APS Investigator Specialist I to protect vulnerable adults and the elderly. You will investigate reports, assess risk, and coordinate protective services with families and communities.

Responsibilities include developing service plans, documenting cases, and providing information to courts where needed. After-hours coverage, team collaboration, and strict adherence to policies are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field required.
  • Experience in protective services is beneficial.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of elderly or disabled adults to assess urgency by interviewing clients, families, and others.
  • Provides services after hours and on weekends to maintain 24-hour coverage.
  • Determines actions to remove or lessen immediate threats to clients and provides referrals and counseling.
  • Develops individualized service plans and maintains case documentation.
  • Makes community presentations to raise awareness about the program.
  • Prepares routine and special reports for management.
  • Serves in lead capacity in absence of supervisor.
  • Attends work regularly and respects cultural diversity.
