Job summary

UAMS is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse/APRN for outpatient care across multiple settings in Little Rock, Arkansas. You will perform comprehensive health assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and supervise patient care with physicians as needed.

Responsibilities include ordering tests, prescribing therapies within scope, educating patients and families, and documenting in the electronic health record. Must hold Arkansas RN license and APRN/CPN credentials, with BLS.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master’s Degree and be a licensed RN in Arkansas.
• APRN/CPN license is required or obtainable.
• Experience in outpatient nursing and health assessments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Extend patient care and administrative services for UAMS physicians in outpatient settings
• Provide comprehensive health assessments and determine diagnoses
• Implement treatment plans and perform procedures
• Prescribe medicines and treatments
• Manage patient health issues independently or in collaboration with designated physicians
• Work autonomously and collaboratively to diagnose and manage patient healthcare problems
• Serve as a healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate
• Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care and facilitate necessary consultations
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and establish baseline and ongoing status
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs, imaging, and other studies
• Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans, including authorized medication prescribing and non-pharmacologic interventions
• Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and referrals
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, preventive health, self-care, side effects, and escalation of care
• Document patient encounters, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic health record
• Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives
• Support program development and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Master’s Degree
• Two (2) years nursing experience
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas
• APRN/CPN License
• Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment
• Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job, including scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines
• Must have normal communication sensory requirement
• Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated
• Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
• Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
