The Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic that specializes in maintaining and repairing cranes. This position may perform routine maintenance, such as lubricating parts, and fixing other problems when the crane malfunctions. The Technician works in a safety-first environment. HCSG is a 24/7 service company that requires technicians to be available on-call and provide after-hours or weekend services as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be available on-call and provide after-hours services as required.
• Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes at customer locations.
• Perform OSHA-required hoist and crane inspections, generate inspection reports, and repair orders.
• Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to schedule and complete work daily.
• Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly; notify supervisors of deficiencies.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attend training and seminars as required.
• Participate in HCSG 5 Marks program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is labor-intensive work. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally. The role involves climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching overhead, bending, squatting, and standing or sitting for extended periods. Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling are required. The job requires good hand-eye coordination. Work at heights over 50 feet may be necessary daily. Travel (20-50%) and working various shifts, including on-call and overtime, are expected.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work may be indoors or outdoors, with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors. Summer temperatures can exceed 120°F.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 0-2 years of crane experience in an industrial setting.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Commitment to safety in work and driving.
• Willingness to work at heights.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Vocational/Technical training certificate.
• Some electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Knowledge of hand tools or possession of hand tools.

Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check, and submit to random and annual drug testing.
