Job summary

Capstone Mechanical, LP. in Waco, TX invites applications for an Apprentice Plumber role.

You will learn to install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures and other plumbing systems in commercial and industrial settings, under close supervision. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and enrollment in an Apprenticeship program; you must communicate well with teammates and customers, follow instructions, and handle basic tools and materials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and enrolled in Apprenticeship program.
• Ability to communicate with internal team and customers.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Learns trade from lead man and takes initiative in performing tasks.
• Serves and supports lead man in completing tasks at hand.
• Assists with installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution, and waste water disposal in commercial and industrial buildings.
• Selects and inserts precut pieces of copper tubing and fittings in holes as directed.
• Connects tubing and fittings using solder paste, or solder and torch, to form drain and water lines under close supervision.
• Keeps worksite clear and clean from debris and trash.
• Hhelps to keep shop and vehicles clean.
• Assists with paperwork involving basic math skills.

Responsible for learning the skills necessary to assist with plumbing installation and maintenance, daily quality control
activities, following facility housekeeping objectives, ensuring assets are properly maintained and company policies are
understood and followed under close and constant supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Physical Demands

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other HVAC equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires:? stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, which includes extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
