Job summary

PremiStar is seeking an apprentice to assist with plumbing installation and maintenance, under close supervision. You will participate in quality control and ensure company policies are followed while learning essential trade skills.

This role emphasizes hands-on work, safety, and teamwork as you gain experience in water distribution, waste water disposal, and pipe fitting across commercial and industrial settings.

Qualifications

• HS diploma and enrolled in Apprenticeship program.
• Able to use hand and power tools.
• Good communication with team and customers; follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Learns trade from lead man and takes initiative in performing tasks.
• Supports lead man in completing tasks.
• Assists with installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and plumbing systems in commercial/industrial buildings.
• Selects precut copper tubing and fittings as directed.
• Connects tubing and fittings using solder paste or torch to form water and drain lines under supervision.
• Keeps worksite clean and free of debris.
• Assists with paperwork requiring basic math.

Responsible for learning the skills necessary to assist with plumbing installation and maintenance, daily quality control activities, following facility housekeeping objectives, ensuring assets are properly maintained and company policies are understood and followed under close and constant supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Learns trade from lead man and takes initiative in performing tasks.


• Serves and supports lead man in completing tasks at hand.


• Assists with installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution, and waste water disposal in commercial and industrial buildings.


• Selects and inserts precut pieces of copper tubing and fittings in holes as directed.


• Connects tubing and fittings using solder paste, or solder and torch, to form drain and water lines under close supervision.


• Keeps worksite clear and clean from debris and trash.


• Helps to keep shop and vehicles clean.


• Assists with paperwork involving basic math skills.

Required Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent and enrolled in Apprenticeship program.

Competencies:

• Ability to communicate with internal team and customers.


• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.


• Ability to use hand and power tools.

Physical Demands

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other HVAC equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, which includes extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
