Job summary

LRS is seeking an Apprentice Mechanic in West Chicago, IL to troubleshoot and repair heavy vehicles and industrial equipment, interpreting work orders and manuals to perform maintenance and repairs.

The role emphasizes safety, practical diagnostic skills and hand-on learning, with opportunities in a team-focused shop under the Shop Manager. CDL is a plus and college/technical training is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with routine maintenance operations is required.
• Completion of college or vocational or technical training, a plus.
• Waste industry experience, a plus.
• A valid CDL driver license is a plus.
• Must be 21 years of age, or older.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipment.
• Interprets work orders and technical manuals.
• Keeps equipment clean, lubricated and maintained.
• Diagnoses faults or malfunctions.
• Adjust equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems.
• Obey all workplace health and safety and code of conduct workplace rules.
• Undertake the training and assessment required under the training plan.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
• Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Needs excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
