Job summary

Lakeshore Recycling Systems in West Chicago is seeking an Apprentice Mechanic to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems on heavy vehicles and industrial equipment. You will interpret work orders and follow manuals, diagnosing faults and performing routine maintenance to keep equipment reliable.

The role reports to the Shop Manager, requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and the skill to work in various weather conditions. CDL- or 21+ eligibility is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
• Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Needs excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Completion of college or vocational or technical training, a plus
• Experience with routine maintenance operations is required
• CDL driver license is a plus
• Must be 21 years of age, or older

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipment
• Interprets work orders and technical manuals
• Keeps equipment clean, lubricated and maintained
• Diagnoses faults or malfunctions
• Adjust equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems
• Obey all workplace health and safety and code of conduct workplace rules
• Undertake the training and assessment required under the training plan
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
