Job summary

Iowa State University is seeking an Electrician I Trainee in Ames, IA to join Utilities Services. The trainee will enroll in a four-year Apprenticeship Program with on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

Trainees work under direct supervision to develop the skills needed to install and repair electrical systems, progressing toward the Electrician I classification. The program includes travel to Grimes for ABC of Iowa courses.

Qualifications

• Requires Iowa Class A or B Journeyman license.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University Fleet Safety requirements.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, learn to install and repair electrical systems and equipment.
• Progress toward the Electrician I classification through hands-on training.
• Attend ABC of Iowa courses in Grimes, IA as part of the apprenticeship.
