Job summary

Interstates, a nationwide electrical, controls and automation contractor, seeks an Apprentice Electrician to join our Des Moines area team. You’ll support journeymen, install and troubleshoot electrical systems, and travel within a 200‑mile radius as needed.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an electrical technology or instrumentation AS program, ready to learn hands-on on diverse projects and work safely in varied environments.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in an electrical technology, electrical construction or instrumentation AS program.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and bend conduit using a tape measure and power/hand tools.
• Operate power tools such as drills, saws, pullers, tuggers, etc.
• Install conductors in raceways and cable trays using manual and power equipment.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening wires, conduit, and motors.
• Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
• Disassemble defective electrical equipment using appropriate tools.
• Load, transport, and furnish Journeyman and Foreman with materials and supplies.
• Use ladders, scaffolding, scissor and boom lifts.
• Perform housekeeping duties as required.
• Other duties as assigned by field leaders.
