Job summary

Interstates seeks an Apprentice Electrician to grow with our Iowa-based team and nationwide projects. You will train through a DOL-approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program while assisting journeymen on a variety of site tasks including conduit wiring and equipment handling.

Travel within Des Moines area (up to 200 miles) and potential relocation are required. Work schedule varies by site, with some weekends; generous benefits and advancement opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: DOL approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program; certificate or AS degree in electrical technology, electrical construction, instrumentation or similar experience preferred.
• Location/Travel: Travel in/around Des Moines, IA - up to 200 miles radius; relocation if needed.
• Work Schedule: 40+ hours per week, up to 60; occasional weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and bend conduit using tape measure and tools.
• Operate drills, saws, pullers, tuggers, and similar power tools.
• Install conductors in raceways and cable trays.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening wiring, conduit, motors.
• Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, sockets, bulbs, switches.
• Disassemble defective electrical equipment using power/hand tools.
• Load and transport materials for Journeyman and Foreman electricians.
• Use ladders, scaffolding, and lifts; maintain housekeeping.
