Job summary

LONG Building Technologies is seeking an Apprentice Controls Technician to support customers by programming temperature control systems and assisting technicians in installation, warranty, emergency and maintenance services on installed systems. The role involves hands-on work in commercial HVAC, calibration, and generating as-built documentation.

The position offers a path to ASP certification, on-site duties, and requires strong analytical and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
• Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
• Strong customer service and analytical skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels of personnel including managers, engineers, sales, and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Assist with programming databases for all supported systems to meet sequences of operation and manufacturer recommendations.
• Help control Technicians perform calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure commissioning obligations are met.
• Assist graphics coordination and deliver graphical user interfaces for projects per LONG standards.
• Update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation; submit redlined drafts to engineers.
• Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.
• Other duties as assigned.
