Job summary

LONG Building Technologies in Anchorage is seeking an Apprentice Controls Technician to support customers by programming temperature control systems based on project specs. You will assist other technicians with installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems.

The role offers growth through the ASP Building Automation Technician Program, strong HVAC and controls exposure, and field collaboration with travel to job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with programming databases for supported systems to meet sequences and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Help technicians calibrate and check-out control systems and commissioning obligations.
  • Assist graphics coordination and deliver GUIs for projects per LONG standards.
  • Update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation.
  • Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.
  • Other duties assigned.

  • Help control Technicians perform calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
  • Assist the graphics coordination and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Help provide information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation (submit all redlined drafting to application engineers).
  • Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $27.00 - $42.75 per hour, plus potential profit share

Qualifications

  • Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
  • Aptitude for computer systems or mechanical systems.
  • Basic programming and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Already enrolled in the ASP program.
  • 1+ years of tech school.

Physical Requirements
  • This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
