Job summary

Amazon in Seattle/Bellevue is seeking an Applied Scientist to design, implement, and deploy optimization and ML solutions for the Fulfillment Network. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve labor planning, scheduling, and flow using scalable models and simulations.

Strong background in operations research, optimization, and machine learning is required, with production systems experience and a track record of delivering impact at scale.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree with 4+ years of related experience.
• Experience building models for business applications.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Applied research in operations research, optimization, ML, statistics or equivalent field.

Responsibilities

• Develop domain knowledge of operational processes and business requirements.
• Analyze data and code to identify improvements or new approaches.
• Create scalable mathematical models for production systems.
• Build prototypes and simulations for agile experimentation.
• Present technical solutions to stakeholders and leadership.
• Collaborate with engineers to deploy prototypes into production.
