Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an Applied Scientist to design, build, and deploy optimization, simulation, and machine learning solutions for one of the world’s most complex systems—the Amazon Fulfillment Network.

You will develop scalable mathematical models, create prototypes, and work with engineers to integrate solutions into production systems. This role emphasizes experimentation, data-driven improvement, and leadership-friendly communication.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree plus 4+ years in science/engineering related field.
• Experience building models for business applications.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of operational processes, system architecture and business requirements.
• Deep dive into data and code to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop scalable mathematical models for production systems to derive optimal solutions.
• Create prototypes and simulations for agile experimentation of solutions.
• Advocate technical solutions to stakeholders, engineers, and leadership.
• Partner with engineers to integrate prototypes into production systems.
• Design experiments to test new or incremental solutions and build performance metrics.
