Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks an Applied Scientist to build ML models for network demand forecasting and capacity planning.

You will work with network engineers, software developers, and supply chain specialists to translate infrastructure problems into scalable, production-ready scientific solutions. You will drive hypothesis-driven research, deliver low-latency forecasts, and own problems end-to-end with a focus on impact and rigorous methods.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building models for business applications.
• PhD or Master's with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML.
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier conferences or journals.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing.

Responsibilities

• Drive hypothesis-driven research to inform business and product roadmap decisions for network traffic modeling.
• Build production systems delivering low-latency network forecast predictions and scale system throughput.
• Own problems end-to-end from networking needs to coherent project delivery with long-term impact.
• Raise the bar for scientific rigor and contribute to teammates through code reviews and design discussions.
• Tackle high-impact, ambiguous challenges and drive them to resolution.
• Learn broadly by collaborating with engineers and scientists to leverage AWS resources.
• Work backwards from customers to design and implement scalable solutions.
