Job summary

Amazon Advertising is seeking an Applied Scientist to lead forecasting and guidance for demand forecasting and insights. Based in Palo Alto, you will drive ML initiatives and collaborate with engineers to productionize models that forecast campaign outcomes and optimize ad delivery.

You will analyze large datasets, run experiments, deploy scalable pipelines, and explore new ML approaches while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive business impact.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building models for business applications.
• PhD or MS with 4+ years in CS/EE/ML or related field.
• Strong programming in Java, C++, Python.
• Experience with algorithms, data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel/distributed computing, HPC.
• Experience using Unix/Linux preferred.
• Professional software development experience preferred.
• Experience building ML models for business applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader in Machine Learning, leading efforts within and across teams.
• Perform hands-on analysis and modeling of large data sets to develop insights that increase traffic monetization and merchandise sales without compromising shopper experience.
• Drive end-to-end ML projects that are high-ambiguity, high-scale, and complex.
• Build ML models, conduct proofs-of-concept, experiment, optimize, and deploy models into production; collaborate with software engineers to productionize ML models.
• Run A/B experiments, collect data, and perform statistical analysis.
• Establish scalable, efficient, automated pipelines for large-scale data analysis, ML model development, validation, and serving.
• Research new and innovative Machine Learning approaches.
