Job summary

DAT is seeking an Applied Science Manager to lead a high-performing team shaping decision systems for the freight marketplace and subscription business. You will guide models, experiments, and analytics, while coaching scientists and collaborating with product and engineering leaders to drive discerning, data-backed decisions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industry experience in applied science or data science (4+ with a Ph.D.), including 2+ years directly managing scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Marketplace & Decision Optimization Team: manage and grow a team of highly technical applied scientists.
• Drive Marketplace Mechanism Innovation: advance carrier engagement recommendation systems, auction design, and automated negotiation models.
• Build Business Decision Optimization: price elasticity, willingness-to-pay, tier adoption, upsell and cross-sell decisions.
• Embrace Experimentation and Causal Inference: design and analyze experiments in a two-sided marketplace with non-traditional A/B designs.
• Set Experimentation Standards Across DAT: define reusable standards for experiment design, power analysis, guardrail metrics, and readouts.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: partner with product, engineering, design, finance, and GTM to turn evidence into decisions
