Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM testing team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA.

The role focuses on designing test plans, developing automated test scripts, and executing manual and automated tests across multiple levels, in a collaborative environment with developers and government customers. Requirements include a BS in Applied Math or Engineering Physics, 2+ years in applied math/physics and 1+ years in software testing, plus proficiency

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code
  • Experience using Linux systems
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
  • Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
  • Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation
