Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division team in Dahlgren, VA. You will design and execute automated/manual tests, link requirements to test cases, and collaborate with developers and government customers on software defect resolution.

Requires 2+ years in applied math/physics and 1+ year in testing. On-site role with security clearance requirements; strong communication and teamwork are essential for daily

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education.
• Familiarity with reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Ability to identify and document complex software defects.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities.
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
