Job summary

SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the Naval NSWCDD Dahlgren team in VA. You will design test plans, execute manual and automated tests, and collaborate with developers and government customers to resolve software defects.

Requirements include 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ year in software testing, Linux proficiency, and US citizenship for on-site work. On-site role with an active Secret clearance; compensation ranges $70,000–$98,000 USD annually.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math/physics experience.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or education.
• Familiarity with reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Ability to document and help resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
