Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician/Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWCDD Dahlgren, VA. On-site, full-time work with responsibilities in test planning, automation, and defect resolution for government-customer projects.

The ideal candidate has a math/physics degree with coding exposure and 1+ years in software testing, plus experience with Linux and DOORS/Jira. U.S. citizenship and 5-day on-site work are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Applied Math or Applied/Engineering Physics is required.
• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience preferred.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or education; concurrent with math/physics is allowed.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code and using Linux environments.
• Strong requirements traceability and ability to document/test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for customer interactions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and similar tools.
• Identify and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
