Job summary

Lumen seeks a highly technical Applied AI Scientist to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions for business challenges. You will partner with business, product, engineering, and technology teams to rapidly prototype and deliver production-ready AI capabilities.

You will combine expertise in ML, generative AI, software development, and experimentation to create scalable AI systems that improve customer experiences and operational outcomes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of applied AI, ML, or data science experience.
• Experience deploying production AI/ML solutions.
• Strong foundations in ML, statistics, experimentation, analytics.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, and modern AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from concept to production.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify use cases and measure impact.
• Build with ML, generative AI, RAG, NLP, and predictive analytics.
• Develop evaluation frameworks for quality, accuracy, and performance.
• Partner with engineering to operationalize AI with MLOps/LLMOps.
• Contribute reusable code, models, and tools to accelerate adoption.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies and propose innovations.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the team.
