Job summary

Lumen is seeking a highly technical Applied AI Scientist to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions for real business challenges. You will partner with business, product, and engineering teams to identify opportunities, prototype quickly, and deliver production-ready AI capabilities that improve customer experiences and operations.

You will blend ML, generative AI, software development, and experimentation to build scalable AI systems, with a hands-on mindset focused on

Qualifications

3+ years of applied AI, ML, data science, or related field.
Experience deploying production AI/ML solutions.
Strong expertise in ML, statistics, predictive modeling, experimentation, analytics.
Experience building solutions with LLMs, RAG, vector databases, modern AI frameworks.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from PoC to production.
Partner with stakeholders to identify use cases and measure impact.
Build solutions using ML, generative AI, RAG, NLP, predictive analytics, and agentic workflows.
Develop evaluation frameworks for quality, accuracy, reliability, and performance.
Collaborate with Engineering to operationalize AI using MLOps/LLMOps best practices.
Contribute reusable code, tools, models, and frameworks for enterprise AI adoption.
Stay updated on emerging AI technologies and propose innovative approaches.
Share knowledge and best practices across the team.
