Job summary

Lumen is seeking a highly technical Applied AI Scientist to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions. You will partner with business, product, engineering, and technology teams to identify opportunities, rapidly prototype, and deliver production-ready AI capabilities.

You will combine ML, generative AI, software development, and experimentation to create scalable AI systems that improve customer experiences and operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in applied AI, ML or data science.
• Experience deploying production AI/ML solutions.
• Proficiency with Python and ML frameworks.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vectors.
• Strong collaboration in cross-functional agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from proof of concept to production.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify use cases and measure impact.
• Build solutions using ML, generative AI, RAG, NLP, and analytics.
• Develop evaluation frameworks for quality and performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to operationalize AI using MLOps/LMLOps.
• Contribute reusable code, tools, models, and frameworks.
• Stay current on emerging AI technologies and recommend approaches.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the team.
