Job summary

Lumen is seeking a highly technical and execution-oriented Applied AI Scientist to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions that solve meaningful business challenges. In this role, you will partner with business, product, engineering, and technology teams to identify opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions, and deliver production-ready AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in applied AI or data science.
• Experience deploying production AI or ML solutions.
• Strong expertise in ML, statistics, and analytics.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases and modern AI frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python and AI/ML toolsets (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, MLflow).
• Experience with cloud platforms and production software environments.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in cross-functional agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from proof of concept to production.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify use cases, define objectives, and measure impact.
• Build solutions using ML, LLMs, RAG, NLP, predictive analytics, and agentic workflows.
• Maintain evaluation frameworks for quality, accuracy, reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to operationalize AI solutions with MLOps and LLMOps best practices.
• Contribute reusable code, models, and frameworks to accelerate AI adoption.
• Stay current on emerging AI technologies and advocate innovative approaches.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the team.
