Vanguard is seeking a senior leader to drive applied AI and machine learning initiatives across Investments and Finance. You will translate business problems into rigorous, scalable AI solutions and guide a small, multidisciplinary team through problem formulation, experimentation, and production transition.

You will shape research direction with senior leadership, elevate governance standards, and communicate findings to internal and external business leaders.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• Minimum 8 years related work experience in analytical and research roles.
• Minimum 2+ years of people leadership experience managing researchers or data scientists.
• Programming skills to access and transform large-scale data for statistical modeling.
• Experience with statistical and machine learning methods, especially deep learning.
• Experience leading applied AI, ML, quantitative research, or systematic investing initiatives.
• Experience with investment management practices and financial data workflows.
• Experience guiding research from problem formulation through experimentation and production transition.
• Experience establishing standards for research quality, reproducibility, explainability, documentation, and governance.

Responsabilidades

• Leads and drives a focused portfolio of AI/ML initiatives across Investments and Finance, translating problems into scalable AI capabilities.
• Sets scientific direction with leadership and evaluates research hypotheses, models, and experiments.
• Leads a small multidisciplinary team, providing technical direction and setting standards for research quality.
• Elevates standards for reproducibility, explainability, documentation, and governance of models.
• Hires, evaluates, and supervises employees, with performance management and development responsibilities.
• Partners with senior stakeholders to frame business challenges as research questions and secure resourcing.
• Presents research findings and implications to senior leaders.
• Contributes to a collaborative lab culture and guides research from formulation to production.

Educación

Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Applied Mathematics, Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science

Master’s degree or PhD preferred
