Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Manager, Applied AI Engineering (Digital Natives) to lead a team delivering meaningful AI applications for strategic customers in the Americas. You will set the team strategy, coach engineers, and partner with Sales, Product, and Research to connect customer insights with product direction.

You will work with CTOs and executives, guiding architectures and repeatable patterns while ensuring safe, reliable AI deployment across critical projects.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in deeply technical, customer-facing roles such as applied engineering, solutions architecture, deployment engineering, or technical consulting.
• 2+ years of experience leading technical teams with hiring and mentorship.
• Experience building or deploying generative AI, ML, developer platforms, or cloud-based software in production.

Responsibilities

• Own strategy and operating model for the Digital Natives Applied AI Engineering team.
• Lead, hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Applied AI Engineers.
• Guide customers to identify high-impact use cases and scale AI applications to production.
• Partner with Sales to prioritize technical engagement with strategic customers.
• Serve as a senior technical partner to customers, CTOs, and executives.
