Etched is building frontier AI hardware in San Jose, delivering AI-driven design of chips, boards, racks, and manufacturing outputs. You will develop AI agents that take electrical and mechanical designs from requirements through verified, manufacturable outputs, creating and modifying CAD models, schematics, PCB layouts, and simulations.

Qualifications

• Track record of solving hard problems across stacks and domains.
• Hands-on experience delivering LLM-based agents or AI tooling.
• Strong Python software engineering skills for tool integrations.
• Background in electrical or mechanical engineering or deep domain learning.
• Ability to learn new problems with AI and ramp quickly.
• Eval-driven mindset: measure AI system performance and improve.
• Comfort moving between research, experimentation, engineering debugging, and production.

Responsibilities

• Build AI systems that convert engineering requirements into designs from concept to manufacturability.
• Develop agents to operate CAD/EDA and simulation tools to generate and iterate designs.
• Create workflows spanning schematic capture, PCB layout, mechanical CAD, thermal and electrical analyses.
• Build tool integrations to reason about geometry, materials, tolerances, and multi-physics constraints.
• Design evaluations measuring correctness, constraint satisfaction, and manufacturability.
• Turn simulation outputs and design reviews into actionable feedback models.
• Curate datasets and design memory from complete trajectories and outcomes.
• Create reproducible experiment infrastructure for scalable design revisions.
• Ship agent-generated designs with teams to quantify improvements in cycle time and performance.
