Job summary

Etched is building AI-enabled chips and workflows in a fully in-person San Jose team. As an Applied AI Engineer, you will embed with RTL, verification, DFT, physical design, and silicon validation to create agents and tooling that accelerate chip development, not customer-facing work.

You will wire agents into simulators, regressions, waveform analysis, and EDA flows, delivering measurable impact on team velocity and quality.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to solve hard problems across stacks and domains.
• Fluent in Python and able to read/modify code; capable of shipping usable software.
• Proficient with AI tools to learn and ramp on new problems.
• Hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-based agents or AI tooling used by real users.
• Adopts an eval-driven approach to measure AI systems before scaling.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and maintain LLM-agent workflows that accelerate chip development and analytics.
• Embed with hardware teams to identify pain points and automate workflows with measurable adoption.
• Design rigorous evals for agent performance on real silicon tasks to drive iteration.
• Integrate agents with internal infrastructure: simulation, CI/regression, lab equipment, and issue tracking.
• Champion adoption through documentation, training, and fast feedback loops with engineers.
