Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer for the Digital Native segment. You will combine deep technical judgment with customer leadership to move ideas from use-case selection through prototyping, production, and scale, guiding model behavior, latency, and safety.

You’ll work with top customers and partner with product teams to turn frontier capabilities into practical features. This role is based in SF or Seattle with a hybrid model (3 days in the office) and relocation assistance for new

Qualifications

• 8+ years of deep, hands-on technical experience with AI/ML systems.
• Proven track record of leading production-scale AI/ML deployments.
• Strong ability to work with customers and translate needs into technical solutions.
• Proficient in Python and at least one of JavaScript/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Embed with platform customers as their technical thought partner.
• Lead architecture decisions and prototype development for frontier AI features.
• Guide customers on achieving measurable business impact and faster value.
• Collaborate with Product and Research teams to validate new capabilities.
• Deliver high-signal feedback to roadmap and maintain organizational knowledge.
• Travel for on-site workshops and implementation sessions as needed.
