Job summary

NC Department of Information Technology is seeking an Applications Systems Manager I to lead the IBEAM platform and its 25+ applications. The role oversees a 6-person technology team, including 5 developers, guiding modernization, cloud adoption, and governance.

Strong strategic leadership and executive communication are essential. You will work to ensure secure, scalable operations while supporting DEQ and other state agencies, with hybrid onsite work and a commitment to modernization

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field and five years progressive experience including at least two years in programming or applications analysis.
Or Associate degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field and six years progressive experience including at least two years in programming and applications analysis.
Equivalent combination of education and experience as outlined by the Education and Experience Equivalency Guide.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for a 6-person technology team maintaining IBEAM and overseeing 25+ applications.
Directly supervise 5 application developers, lead recruitment and performance management.
Architect and manage modernization, cloud adoption, systems integration, and governance decisions.
Oversee system design, performance tuning, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and upgrades.
