Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Wendell, NC is seeking an Application Engineer for Utility Power Systems to support Generator Breaker and Outdoor Distribution Breaker projects across North America. In this customer‑facing role, you will review specifications, lead design reviews, and deliver technical proposals while partnering with utilities, EPCs, and contractors to improve reliability and safety.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
2+ years of experience in applications engineering, proposal engineering, utility engineering, power systems, or related disciplines.
Knowledge of medium-voltage power distribution systems.
Experience reviewing one-line diagrams, protection schemes, and project specifications.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers and stakeholders.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Serving as the technical advisor for generator breaker and outdoor distribution breaker applications up to 38kV.
Partnering with utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, and power producers to develop customer-focused technical solutions.
Reviewing specifications, one-line diagrams, and system requirements to create competitive proposals and system recommendations.
Leading technical presentations, design reviews, and customer discussions throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborating with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and sales teams to deliver Siemens solutions.
Supporting grid modernization projects to improve reliability, resiliency, and lifecycle performance.
