Job summary

Ryan Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking an Applications Engineer Level II to oversee the design, customization, testing, and security of software and hardware applications aligned to NIH/NINR requirements.

The role entails remote work with occasional on-site client meetings in Maryland and collaboration with government officials. Qualified candidates hold a BS in CS or related field, 3+ years in Power Platform/SharePoint, strong Agile SDLC knowledge, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and deploying Power Platform projects (M365/Power Platform or SharePoint).
  • Experience with federal government projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile SDLC and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for government client interactions.
  • Ability to author and edit system documentation and risk management materials.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design, customization, testing, and security of software and hardware applications.
  • Analyze complex system requirements and design new solutions.
  • Supervise software configuration management and tooling.
  • Develop tools/subsystems to support reuse and domain analyses.
  • Assist Project Manager with cost estimates and scheduling.
  • Review and refine existing programs to improve performance.

The Application Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, customization, testing, and security for maintaining software and hardware applications to match the NINR and end user requirements to ensure systems operate reliably, securely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and study complex system requirements to design new systems and requirements.
  • Supervise software configuration management.
  • Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manage their implementation.
  • Manage software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools
  • Assist the Project Manager with estimating software development costs and schedule.
  • Review existing programs and assist in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience designing and deploying complex Power Platform projects including M365/Power Platform or SharePoint modernization, federal government experience preferred
  • Working knowledgeable on Agile SDLC methodology, processes and best practices
  • Strong communication skills interacting with clients and government officials.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in developing/authoring and editing system documentation, risk management, and project management materials
  • Expert level skills in M365/Power Platform and SharePoint.
Required Certification
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Developer Associate or Power Platform Development Associate
