Job summary

Zipline is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer Intern for the Ground Systems Deployment team in South San Francisco. You will help roll out site infrastructure, contribute to charging site standards, and support permitting, while collaborating with Real Estate, Systems Engineering, and Tower Engineering.

You will gain hands-on experience taking infrastructure from early concepts through permitting and construction, learning how civil and structural engineering supports a fast-growing UAS network.

Qualifications

• Must have completed the second year of undergraduate studies in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam and drafting software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
• Excellent communications and problem solving skills.
• Bonus: Experience with building codes and site plans.

Responsibilities

• Support civil and structural design of new Zipline sites, including charging infrastructure and foundations.
• Perform structural calculations and develop drawings for permitting, construction, and deployment.
• Create and improve reusable design standards for charging sites and ground-system hardware.
• Assist permitting and regulatory reviews by coordinating with municipalities and inspectors.
• Collaborate with Real Estate & Development, Systems Engineering, and Tower Engineering to ensure layouts meet requirements.
• Evaluate site-specific engineering challenges and develop practical solutions to improve safety, constructability, and cost.
• Gain hands-on experience taking infrastructure from concept through permitting and construction for a rapidly scaling UAS network.
